What can I put in a skip?

Skips are used for general waste, which can be anything generated from house clearance and property maintenance. Also building/construction waste that is neither liquid nor of a hazardous nature.

What can’t go in a skip?

Items classed as hazardous waste cannot be placed in the skip – these include:

  • No Fridges, Freezers or TV’s
  • Plasterboard
  • Gas Bottles & Cylinders
  • Medical Waste or Hazardous & Toxic Waste
  • Oils & Filters (engine, hydraulic & cooking)
  • Fluorescent Tubes
  • Asbestos
  • Paint & Paint Tins
  • Solvents
  • Resins
  • Tyres

Please read carefully the following TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Skip hire is for a maximum of seven days, extra unauthorized days will be charged at £5.00 per day plus vat unless otherwise stated.
  2. No Asbestos, Cement board, fire board, Plasterboard, fridges or freezers, Gas cylinders or any other kind of liquid or chemical substance is to be loaded into the skip. Any of the above item(s) found in the skip will be returned to the delivery address & any costs incurred will be charged for
  3. In the interest of safety, the hirer must make sure the skip is a Level Load
  4. If the skip is over a level load the driver will remove any part of waste that he sees to be unsafe without prior notice to the hirer
  5. The skip must not be moved after delivery & No fire to be lit in the skip.
  6. If during hire the skip is damaged in any form that is not fair wear & tear, he/she must accept full responsibility for the repair costs, we accept no responsibility for harm to any person(s) arising from the skip.
  7. After the hirer accepts the skip to be on their premises, we will not accept claims for damage to their property.
  8. We reserve the right to remove the contents of the skip if payment is not received or the contents are deemed to contain hazardous waste.
  9. Depending on the size, there is a minimum charge of £5.00 per tyre plus VAT, that will be applied to the hire cost for any tyres placed in the skip. Any mattress placed in skip will be charged at £15.00 for any size plus VAT.
  10. Collection: preferential collection will be given to clients that pre-book, collection dates are not guaranteed as occasionally circumstances beyond our control may result in delays.
  11. A Collection date is given to customers, if further time is required the office must be notified on 01268 565629 24 hours before collection date, If however, we are not notified further costs may be incurred to customer.
  12. No POP’S are to be loaded into the skip this includes Sofa’s, sofa beds, armchairs, kitchen / dining room chairs, stools / foot stools, home / office chairs, futons, beanbags, floor and sofa cushions, and foam matters. If not declared could be returned to you and charges incurred.

What size skip do I need?

We offer a wide range of skip sizes, from one ton bags up to 40 yard roll on/roll off skips. The most commonly ordered size is the 6 yard ‘builders’ skip. Can you deliver a skip over a wall?

We certainly can. With the use of our lorry’s extendable arms we are able to deliver skips over walls. Depending on the size of the skip there will be a minimum space required to do this. If you are unsure whether you have the appropirate space simply call our office on 01268 565629 to discuss your requirements.
